polyimide
Polyimide thrust washers
A polyimide thrust washer is a thin axial bearing. It takes load along the shaft axis, controls friction, and holds thickness at temperatures that flatten many plastics. Graphite-filled grades are typical for dry running.
Why polyimide instead of bronze
Bronze thrust washers are strong and familiar. Polyimide wins when weight, dry lubrication, electrical isolation, or polymer-range chemistry is the constraint. It is not a universal swap — we will say so if metal is the better family.
Questions engineers ask
Short answers
What dimensions matter most on a thrust washer?
Thickness, parallelism, ID, OD, and surface finish. Thermal growth and the mating faces decide clearance. Send the stack-up if you have it.
